A complex town centre scheme, integrating retail and residential accommodation within Enniskillen’s town centre conservation area.

McAleer & Teague performed the role of Principal Contractor on the construction of this complex town centre scheme, integrating retail and residential accommodation.

The accommodation consists of seven townhouses and six apartments, with private courtyard car parking, plus 3500m2 of retail units over two levels.

The building footprint occupied the complete site, fronted at each end by the main arterial routes through the town. This required extensive planning and coordination when removing excavated material and making material deliveries to the site.

A contractor designed contiguous piled retaining wall system enabled excavations to a depth of 6m adjacent to existing 3 storey buildings and the Main Street.

The facades are a combination of traditional and steel framed masonry construction, and incorporate reconstituted stone banding and tower detail. The units are finished for fit-out and residential finished to turn-key specification.

Due to the numerous different floor levels throughout the building co-ordination of the subcontract trades required constant monitoring to ensure work was being progressed as per the contract plan.
