Drumragh G.A.C.

The construction of the new Sports Hall and community facilities as well as a new MUGA / Training Pitch, complete with flood lighting, ball catch fencing and hard / soft landscaping.

The new centre was located on a brown field site at Drumragh G.A.C.

The building consisted the erection and completion of a new 2 storey changing pavilion on piled foundations, with ring beams, a steel frame, concrete floors, precast concrete slab floors, double skinned insulated composite metal roofing, rendered masonry external skin and aluminum windows and doors. The hall has a total internal floor area of approx 936m2.

The building provides 4 changing rooms, including shower areas, committee room, 2 referees changing and shower rooms, equipment stores, community hall, kitchen and ancillary areas with associated services installations, drainage and site works.

The project also included the construction of a new pitch (110 x 70m) incorporating flood lighting (200 Lux) and ball catch fencing (32x12m).

The complex funding arrangement (Sport NI & Drumragh Sarsfield) required detailed cost planning and forecasting by McAleer & Teague’s surveying department, ensuring the client had the most up to date information at all times. The timely and accurate provision of this information ensured the funding bodies’ maximum grant was utilised on the scheme. The required the forward purchasing of materials and equipment and the storage of same on the site for future use. The project was complete on programme and within budget.

The previous use of the site required a piling solution which consisted of driven concrete piles and ring beams. The early appointment of the supply chain and timely completion of these works ensured the completion of the project on time.
