Killmacrennan N.S.

Construction of a new 8-classroom, two storey National School on a greenfield site, opposite the existing school.

The building is constructed on vibro compacted ground, with reinforced concrete ground bearing concrete slabs, in-situ concrete ground & first floor construction with composite roof panel construction. The general purpose room is steel framed with high level trusses.

The building achieved the highest overall air test for schools of this type constructed by the Department of Education.

Excellent project management and site management as well as carefully sequenced construction activities in the Programme of Works ensured the coordination of suppliers, subcontractors and resources and the health and safety of school personnel (staff and students) throughout the works on this 'live' site.

Detailed traffic management plans ensured the the safe drop-off and collection of children to the existing school during the construction phase.

The scheme had zero accidents reported.
